Zero-point grounding resistors are high-power resistors that are mainly used in the power industry.
They are used in power grids as zero-point grounding resistors for the needs of own transformers. They serve as assistive devices in the detection of ground faults in GPZ power stations of medium voltage networks, in order to reduce earth-fault overvoltages and create better conditions for the operation of earth fault protection.
A grounding resistor permanently connected to the zero point of the transformer, during normal operation, takes a small load (up to 10% Iz) resulting from phase asymmetry.
